Now that the holidays are upon us, waiting for Christmas day to arrive can be tough. The anticipation of Santa's visit, family gatherings, and special gifts can make each day seem like an eternity. Make one of these fun advent calendars to make the countdown a bit easier. Making Advent calendars is a great family project.

(Photo... Knitting with Cat Hair - Ok, at first I thought this was kind of creepy. I've never been a fan of funeral jewelry and this kind of seemed along the same lines. But I have to admit, after reading the book, I'm seeing the cuteness of this. I can totally see smooshing up a cat shape to go with a doll for a young girl's holiday present. And, once you have the hair, it doesn't seem like it would take a lot of time to create.
Crafting With Cat Hair by Kaori Tsutaya provides instructions on making various shapes such as finger puppets with 'harvested' cat hair. If you've ever owned a cat you know what I mean by harvested! While you can't download it for your Kindle, it has the "Click to Look Inside!" feature on Amazon so you can check it out prior to purchasing.
... Arts and Crafts Residency Programs - Craft Houston has announced applications are being accepted for a six, nine or twelve month arts and crafts residency. You receive a monthly stipend, a small, quarterly housing/materials allowance and free studio space. For more info, check out the Craft Houston website. There is also a link for the Craft Texas Call for Entries for the 2012 show.
VCUarts has also announced applications are being accepted their residency program. Located in Richmond,VA, the Fellowship provides a $15,000 stipend, free studio, and free living space.
