I've found a few ways to hard code AND convert to a playable file on ps3 at the same time, but none of them keep the font that was original in the video.

Can I install two different versions of FFDShow on a single PC? - I've been using FFDShow-tryouts for a while, but I was sad to see that they removed several encoders due to compatibility issues several versions ago. I liked to use it because their frontend for Xvid was awesome and I could capture without problems using Virtualdub ... DVD ripped to Mp4 with handbrake has sound way out of sync. - On the second DVD of a two DVD movie, the MP4 from Handbrake (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HandBrake) of the second disk is way way out of sync
wheras the MP4 of the first disk is fine.
The sound is in sync on the original DVD files of both DVD disks.
